South Coast Proms Comments
I want to congratulate you on a wonderful evening’s entertainment on Friday night at the South Coast Proms. My guests and I felt extremely well looked after and the concert once again showcased the very best of the Royal Marines Band. As with the Mountbatten Festival of Music, a great deal of thought had clearly gone into the detailed planning and logistics to ensure the success of the night – a particularly notable achievement given this is your debut year.

A quick note to congratulate you on the quite excellent South Coast Proms on Friday night. Sublime weather, faultless co-ordination and arrangements, fantastic music, great fireworks – the whole thing was a triumph.

Many congratulations to the organisers of the South coast Proms at Whale Island at the weekend. It goes without saying that the music was fantastic, especially the new piece Wootton Bassett and the finale of Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony to accompany the fireworks instead of the more usual 1812 Overture. The setting was perfect and the weather matched it in every way, but the icing on the cake was the ease with which we were all sent happily on our way afterwards. Whoever had the idea of filtering us through the drill hall via airport check-out styles lanes on to the waiting buses deserves a special accolade. The final bonus was as we strolled along the lanes we were entertained by Oliver Sheen, who had us all singing along to his version of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody – magic! Thank you for a wonderful evening – we can’t wait for next year’s Proms.

May I say, on behalf of all my friends, what a wonderful evening we all had at the South Coast Concert on Friday. Everything was well organised with plenty of outlets for food and drink. The sailors could not have been more helpful – nothing was too much trouble for them. The music was just wonderful and it was a perfect balmy evening to enjoy it all. It was so well done that we all hope that it will be an annual event as we will certainly be regulars now that the Porchester proms have ceased. May this event go from strength to strength.
